Positive experiences with the dentist from a young age play a crucial part in your child’s life.
Here at Innovadent Dental Clinic, we love working with children to inspire them to become confident with caring for their teeth, and to realise the importance of a healthy diet, a good at-home routine, and regular visits to the dentist as they grow towards adulthood.
The steps involved during your child’s appointment
We recommend bringing your child along when their first tooth comes through, so they can become accustomed with the dental practice environment, and create good connotations with what it means to see the dentist.
During your child’s routine appointments, we will:
- Check their teeth are coming through correctly.
- Advise on the kind of diet to follow and the foods to avoid.
- Offer constructive and non-judgemental advice to parents if they’re struggling to get their child to brush regularly.
- Check for signs of tooth decay (which remains the primary reason why children aged 5-9 are admitted to the hospital).
- Seek to inspire your child to understand that caring for their teeth is something they can feel proud about doing as they grow.
How do children’s dentist appointments benefit my child?
Early experiences shape a child’s motivations and views once they become an adult. Not only can bringing them along to the dentist regularly keep their teeth healthy and looking beautiful, it can give them confidence around their peers, and allow them to feel empowered about being independent with their dental care routine.
