Our porcelain veneers are beautifully made by a lab technician with years of experience. Whilst the veneers process is more involved than other cosmetic treatments like composite bonding, it’s more long-lasting and the aesthetic result is unparalleled. Using porcelain allows us to achieve the natural results our patients are looking for, since porcelain has an incredibly likeness to the translucency of real tooth enamel.
You may have heard that veneers do involve some removal of your natural tooth enamel, which is the case. However, this is only a small amount, unlike that which needs to be removed for a crown. If you’re looking for a more conservative alternative, we might suggest composite bonding as an alternative to veneers. However, if it’s aesthetic that takes precedence, we recommend a veneer, which can last anywhere between 10 and 15 years.
If you’re someone who likes to whiten their teeth every now and then, veneers are also a great option, as they don’t stain easily, unlike composite, which is prone to discolouration.
Teeth whitening is one of our most popular cosmetic treatments, and it can make a huge difference to the overall appearance of your smile, without the need for a complex process. Here at Innovadent, we offer the in-chair Phillips ZoomTM White-Speed option, which is a single 45-minute whitening session that brings about instant results. We will also give you a pack of whitening gel to use at home, which can optimize the results in just a matter of days (though some patients prefer not to, as they are happy with the results of their in-chair treatment). It’s completely up to you as to how white you would like your teeth to go.
Professional dentist-supervised teeth whitening is hands down the safest and best way to whiten your smile. We use safe levels of the peroxide gel, and ensure the process is completely bespoke to you.
Do you have an old amalgam filling you’re sick of spotting every time you look in the mirror? White fillings are a cosmetic alternative that blend in with your tooth shade, so you don’t have to worry about this any longer, nor will you feel anxious at the prospect of other people spotting it. White fillings can be classed as both a cosmetic and a restorative treatment, as they’re placed into a tooth that has been affected by decay, fortifying it. White fillings aren’t just better looking than amalgam fillings though, they’re also mercury-free, making them safer to have in your mouth. Their temperature-resistant nature means your white filling will also be less prone to cracks, as a result of the filling expanding and contracting after consuming very hot and cold foods.
Many patients ask us what the difference is between cosmetic bonding and white fillings, and it’s a great question, as the processes are pretty much the same. However, the big difference between them is that the white filling is more geared towards achieving tooth functionality, whilst bonding can deliver more of a cosmetic element.
Bonding involves layers of composite being adhered to a tooth, and we can use it on front teeth that have sustained a crack, or a chip. It’s become particularly popular during the last few years, as patients look for more efficient and speedy ways to improve their teeth. We can also use composite bonding to treat several teeth, making sure there is a natural tooth-to-tooth ratio, and that the size and shape of each fits the aesthetic of your lips and mouth.
Here at Innovadent, we love working with composite, as it’s layered on very gradually, requiring artistry and dexterity to attain a natural result. The whole process can take as little as an hour, and there isn’t normally any anaesthetic or drilling involved, making it a great option for patients who might be a bit nervous about treatment.
As we mentioned earlier, composite bonding might not be the best choice of treatment if you’re someone who likes to whiten their teeth often. Composite is resistant to the peroxide used for teeth whitening, so if this sounds like you, you might be more suited to veneers, which are resistant to stains.
